China was in Group B with Korea, China, Australia, and the Czech Republic in the first round of the WBC. The Korea-China match will be held at the Tokyo Dome on March 13 at 7:00 PM as the last match of Group B of the first round.
China, which has been participating in the WBC since its first tournament in 2006, has never passed the first round. China is aiming for its first win in 10 years since the 2013 match against Brazil (5-2 win) at the WBC.
China’s WBC final roster included Ju Kwon (KT Wiz), who won the KBO league hold king in 2020, Alan Carter, a minor league pitcher affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels, and outfielder Masago Yusuke, who played for the Softbank Hawks in Japan until last year.
Joo-kwon, who is currently attending the KT spring camp at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, plans to complete team training until February 28 and then move to Japan on March 1 to join the Chinese national team.
Ju-gwon, who has a Chinese father and a Korean mother, was born in Jilin Province, China, and became a naturalized Korean in 2007 at the age of 12. He also participated as a member of the Chinese national team in the 2017 WBC.
