Korean Air defeated Canberra Heat 3-0 at Asian Club Championship
The V-League champions were strong.
Professional volleyball men’s Korean Air defeated Australian league champion Canberra Heat 3-0 (25:11/25) in the first leg of Group A of the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship held at ISA Sports City Stadium in Manama, Bahrain on the 14th (local time). :21/25:12).
Korean Air, which won three consecutive안전놀이터 championships in the domestic league until last season, is the first men’s team to participate in this competition since its professional debut. A total of 16 countries participate in this tournament, organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).
In this tournament, Korean Air, excluding players such as Han and Kim Kyu-min, started the first set without key players Jung Ji-seok and Kwak Seung-seok, but brought victory with a young ace. Lim Dong-hyuk (24), considered the next-generation ace, scored 13 points, Lee Jun (23) scored 12 points, and Jeong Han-yong (21) scored 9 points.
In a press interview after the game, Lee Joon said, “I was excited and worried at the same time when I heard that I was a starting member before the game. Jeong Han-yong gave the ball to starting setter Kwang-woo Yoo, saying, “I was worried too, but (Yu) Kwang-woo put the ball well, so it worked out.”
Korean Air plans to give opportunities to young players through this tournament and focus on building experience and tactics for the team by participating in international competitions. Head coach Tommy Tillikainen said through the Korean Air team before leaving the country, “Of course, the goal is to win.”
