KIA calls up Hwang Dae-in to bat 6th and start at first base…Choi Won-joon gets day off

Hwang Dae-in (KIA Tigers) has been called up to the first team and will start immediately.

The KIA Tigers made changes to their first-team roster ahead of their 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League game against the LG Twins on Tuesday at KIA Champions Field in Gwangju.

Outfielder Kim Ho-ryung and reliever Yoon Jung-hyun have been designated for assignment. In their place, infielder Hwang Dae-in and outfielder Choi Jeong-yong were called up to the first team.

Hwang appeared in 42 games this season, batting .243 with 33 hits, three home runs, 22 RBIs, 14 runs scored and a .643 OPS. He suffered a hamstring injury against the Suwon KT Wiz on March 7. He was diagnosed with a partial tear in his right hamstring. The injury came at a time when he was batting .444 with an OPS of .974 in July with eight hits, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Hwang Dae-in spent a month focusing on his recovery and will start at first base upon his call-up to the first team. ”We called him up to reinforce the first base position and batting. (Choi) Won-joon-i can play first base, but I think we should also utilize him in the outfield in place of (Kim) Ho-ryung-i,” said KIA manager Kim Jong-kuk.

Choi Won-jun, who has been playing leadoff and first base since his discharge from the military, will be rested. His leadoff role will be filled by Kim Do-young. Coach Kim Jong-guk said, “Won-joon recently joined the team and has been playing full-time. I think he’s a little bit tired,” said Kim Jong-kook, “so I think we should give him a rest for the second half of the game to manage his stamina. (Kim) Do-young will lead off and (Park) Chan-ho will bat second.”바카라

KIA’s lineup is Kim Do-young (third base), Park Chan-ho (shortstop), Na Sung-beom (right field), Socrates Brito (center field), Ko Jong-wook (designated hitter), Hwang Dae-in (first base), Han Jun-soo (catcher), and Kim Kyu-sung (second base). The starting pitcher is Yoon Young-cheol.

The “Super Rookie” has appeared in 16 games (15 starts) this season, posting a 7-4 record with 35 runs (34 earned) in 80⅓ innings pitched, a 3.81 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP (walks allowed per inning). This is his first start for LG Electronics.
