A man in his 50s who indiscriminately assaulted a health center worker for cracking down on smoking was arrested by the police.
Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do announced on the 16th that it had booked without detention a man in his 50s on charges of obstruction of justice안전놀이터.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting Mr. B, a woman in her 30s, a health center worker, four times in a park in Jungdong, Bucheon, at around 10:15 am the previous day.
It was investigated that while Mr. A was smoking her cigarette, Mr. B, who was in charge of cracking down on her smoking, approached and tried to impose a fine on her.
The police received a report, went to the scene, and arrested Mr. A, who remained in the park, as a current criminal.
Mr. A is said to have stated to the police that “Mr. B asked for personal information and I was momentarily angry.” A citizen who witnessed the assault told KBS
that “(Mr. A grabbed Mr. B’s) hair and knocked it over, kicked and punched him, and the violence was severe.”
An official from the Bucheon City Public Health Center told the media, “Mr. B is having a hard time even thinking about this.”
A police official said, “First of all, Mr. A’s identity was confirmed and he was released.”
The city of Bucheon has designated all 193 city parks as non-smoking areas through an ordinance, and a fine of 50,000 won is imposed for violations. If you dissatisfied with this and ‘obstruct the execution of public affairs’, you will be punished by imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to 10 million won.
