“Give me money” eerie red paint on the exterior wall of an apartment under construction

According to the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a 119 call was received around 11:30 a.m. on the 24th that a person was hanging from the outside wall of an apartment in Banwol-dong, Hwaseong-si.

Responding firefighters found Mr. A hanging from the exterior wall of the 14-story apartment building, where most of the exterior work had been completed, on a rope connected to the roof.

The protesting man, Mr. A, was reportedly a representative of a painting company that had been subcontracted by the apartment’s contractor. He is protesting by climbing down the outside wall of the apartment and writing the words “I want my money” in red paint.

It is unclear whether or not he is owed any wages and how much. Police and firefighters prepared for the eventuality by placing air mattresses around the exterior walls.

Mr. A ended the sit-in at 3:22 p.m. when he lowered himself to the ground.

It is understood that he was persuaded to come down by the police crisis negotiation team. The police reportedly stayed close to him and convinced him to come down safely from the heights.
