Comedian jailed for 4 months after attacking taxi driver

A comedian who went on trial for assaulting a taxi driver because he thought he refused a ride has been sentenced to prison.

The Suwon District Court sentenced Mr안전놀이터. A, a comedian in his 40s who was charged with assaulting a driver, to four months in prison and remanded him to court.

The court explained that Mr. A had been punished several times in the past for similar crimes, and that he had also been arbitrarily absent during the trial.

Earlier, Mr. A was brought to trial for allegedly kicking the passenger seat while cursing after getting into the back of a taxi driven by a driver in his 60s on a road in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, in the early hours of March 29 last year.

It was investigated that before getting into the taxi, Mr. A was convinced that he had been refused a ride when the driver stopped some distance away instead of stopping in front of him, so he committed the crime.
