Enlisting in the active duty service of a professional baseball player means a career break. Even if he can mature mentally for a year and a half, he is evaluated as a success even if he physically maintains his pre-enlistment state.
However, Kang Hyeon-woo (21), a promising catcher at KT, was able to practice ball consistently even in the field. A net was even installed at the parade ground amid the consideration of executives who play social baseball.
Kang Hyeon-woo, who was discharged in early November, immediately joined the KT finishing camp held in Iksan and finished preparations for next year’s spring camp. Actually, the formal discharge date was in early November, but Kang Hyeon-woo went on vacation from the end of the year in September and started to build up his body early. He exhausted himself by driving the military leave all at once to participate in the finishing training at the top.
Kang Hyeon-woo said, “It’s been a while since I did the finish camp, and it was fun and difficult. The hardest thing was, of course, the sense of practice. Still, he quickly regained his senses thanks to his continued preparation in the army. He did his best in any training,” he said, expressing his impressions of his first training after being discharged.
Kang Hyeon-woo is a promising catcher who came out of Shingo Yu and was nominated in the 2nd place in the 2nd round of the 2020 KT. In December 2019, he also won the Lee Man-soo Catcher Award given to the best catcher in Amiya Baseball. Kang Hyeon-woo tasted the first team with a batting average of 2.1, 1 home run and 3 RBIs in 26 games in his first year, and immediately enlisted for active duty and quickly fulfilled his military service obligations.
Kang Hyeon-woo headed to the 3rd Corps located in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do. His position was an artilleryman in charge of the K9 self-propelled gun (155mm). However, he was fortunately assigned to a unit with a lot of interest in baseball and was able to train the ball while serving in the military. 메이저놀이터
Kang Hyun-woo said, “In the unit, the executives were considerate so that they could play baseball. He said, “The practice ball was sent by KT, and the unit installed a net in the parade ground,” he said. “The unit itself liked baseball very much. Haengbo-gwan (Administrative Assistant) played social baseball and became a catch ball partner. Instead, I gave lessons. In the case of hitting, I kept my senses while tea-batting alone.”
