(Hangame Baduk = Reporter Han Chang-gyu) Yongseongjeon, the only domestic competition sponsored by a foreign company안전놀이터, opened its 6th season. The 6th Yongseongjeon has been holding preliminary rounds at the Korea Kiwon Convention Hall since the 20th.

The preliminaries, which are divided into three categories, are the gateway to determine the 11 finalists. This season, 216 people applied for participation, an increase of one from the previous season. There are 161 players in the regular group, 19 in the senior group, and 36 in the women’s group.

The number of participants is 9 in the regular group, 1 in the senior group, and 1 in the women’s group. 23 people in the general group, 2 people in the senior group, and 2 people in the women’s group were selected, a significant decrease from the previous year. This is because the composition of the finals was reduced from 32 in the previous year to 16 this year. Overall, the average competition rate for tickets to the finals is 8 to 1 in the previous year and 20 to 1 this year.

The seed is 5 people, the same as the first tournament. Shin Jin-seo 9 dan and Kang Dong-yoon 9 dan who played in the first quarter finals, Park Jeong-hwan 9 dan as ranking seed, and Byun Sang-il 9 dan as national seed will go directly to the finals. Here, one person joins as a wild card.

Most of the preliminary rounds for the general and senior groups will be held on the 24th, and the women’s group will be decided on the 27th. The prize money for the 6th Yongseongjeon sponsored by Japan’s Go channel is 30 million won for the winner and 12 million won for the runner-up.
